Armed Forces & Veterans Breakfast Club Sawtry

Back to Activities

Sawtry Armed Forces & Veterans Breakfast Club provides a safe, friendly and informal place for veterans to ‘return to the tribe’ and regain a sense of belonging. Enjoy breakfast in the company of past and current members of the Armed Forces.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • It can help give back some of the feeling of ‘belonging’ veterans lose when they leave service
  • It provides camaraderie with people who have had similar experiences
  • It is a place where you can find the help and support needed specific to people in the Armed Forces

"The breakfast club is a chance to discover like minded serving and veteran colleagues who have trained with the same type of discipline that makes us who we are, and allows us all to understand the problems that armed conflict causes on our minds and bodies; meeting together at breakfast clubs gives us that release by talking about our experiences that only the armed forces will truly understand."

What to expect

Armed Forces & Veterans Breakfast Clubs are open to all who are serving or have served in HM Forces, along with their immediate family members.

The Sawtry Breakfast Club meets on the second Saturday of each month from 9:45am onwards. Come in through the main entrance facing the road, where you’ll find a tea, coffee, and juice station ready to get your morning started.

You’ll be warmly welcomed by Billy or another friendly member of the club, who will let you know how things work and where to pay for your breakfast.

The Club is always well attended, with plenty of opportunity to chat and connect with others. Members can also point you towards local support and services if you’d like to find out more.

Parking: Free parking is available at the rear of The Greystones. Please remember to enter your vehicle registration on the iPad at the bar when you arrive.

More information

The national organisation Armed Forces & Veterans Breakfast Clubs (AFVBC) provides support and guidance to all the locally run clubs across the country. The details above relate to the Sawtry Club, but you can find other clubs near you by visiting the AFVBC website.

The aim of the Armed Forces & Veterans Breakfast Clubs is to strengthen links between local clubs and the main veteran support agencies, helping to ensure that anyone in need can be signposted to the right help and services.

The national organisation also acts as the formal voice of the clubs, allowing them to engage with the Ministry of Defence and other key organisations with a shared purpose and united outlook.

It is free to join the club, there are no subscription or other fees and no commitments.

Attendees pay for their own breakfast but this is a small amount, with unlimited tea and coffee. However, if you need assistance with this please talk to Billy.

Occasionally, trips are organised; funds raised from raffles and other sources are used to reduce costs.
