St Ives' Armed Forces & Veterans Breakfast Club CIC aims to provide safe, friendly and informal places for veterans to ‘return to the tribe’ - regain a sense of belonging and enjoy breakfast together in the company of other past and current members of the Armed Forces.
This activity is good for wellbeing because
- It can help veterans reconnect with a sense of community and belonging that is often lost after leaving service.
- It offers the chance to connect with others who have shared similar experiences.
- It’s a place where veterans and service personnel can access support tailored specifically to the needs of those in the Armed Forces.
"The breakfast club is a chance to discover like minded serving and veteran colleagues who have trained with the same type of discipline that makes us who we are, and allows us all to understand the problems that armed conflict causes on our minds and bodies; meeting together at breakfast clubs gives us that release by talking about our experiences that only the armed forces will truly understand."

What to expect
The Armed Forces & Veterans Breakfast Clubs are open to all serving and former members of HM Forces, as well as their immediate family members.
The St Ives Breakfast Club meets on the first and fourth Saturday of each month from 9:00am onwards.
You’ll be warmly welcomed by Merv or another friendly member, who will explain how the breakfast works and where to pay. Guests queue up to enjoy a hearty, satisfying breakfast.
The club is always well attended, offering plenty of opportunity to chat and connect with others. Members can also provide information about local support services if needed.
A raffle is held during the morning for anyone who wishes to join in, with proceeds supporting activities such as group trips.
More information
The national Armed Forces & Veterans Breakfast Club provides support and guidance for all locally run clubs. The details here are for the St Ives Club, but you can find information about other clubs across the country on the national website here.
The network aims to build connections between local clubs and the main support agencies for veterans, so that clubs can signpost anyone in need to the right help and services.
The national organisation also acts as the formal voice of the clubs, enabling them to speak to the Ministry of Defence and other agencies with a shared purpose and united approach.

It is free to join the club, there are no subscription or other fees and no commitments.

Attendees pay for their own breakfast but this is a small amount, with unlimited tea and coffee. However, if you need assistance with this please talk to Merv.
Occasionally, trips are organised; funds raised from raffles and other sources are used to reduce costs.
