Coneygear Homework Club

Back to Activities

The Homework Club provides a supportive and structured space for young people aged 8 to 15 (up to Year 11) to complete schoolwork with guidance and encouragement, in a calm environment designed to help students focus and succeed.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • it helps build confidence and reduce stress by providing support with homework and schoolwork in a calm, encouraging environment;
  • it improves focus and routine, helping young people develop positive study habits and time-management skills;
  • it encourages social connection through learning alongside peers in a safe and supportive setting.

What to expect

Homework Club runs during term time on Wednesdays from 3:30pm to 5:00pm. Sessions take place in a structured environment where attendees are expected to work on school-related tasks — this is a homework club rather than a youth club.

Young people have access to the on-site digital suite and library facilities to support their learning. Help is available throughout the session, including support from a former teacher. Water and snacks are provided, typically simple options such as toast and jam, with dietary requirements catered for.

On a young person’s first visit, a parent or guardian must attend to complete the required paperwork. If a carer is needed to support attendance, they are welcome to stay during the session.

More information

The venue is fully accessible and includes a hearing aid loop, a disabled toilet and a Changing Places toilet. Dietary requirements can be accommodated when advised at the time of booking. Mobility scooter users are welcome; however, if a scooter is particularly large, a wheelchair is available on site to assist individuals once their scooter has been parked.

Sessions are free to attend.
