Coneygear Seniors is a welcoming community group for over 65s, offering friendship, activities and a two-course lunch in a supportive environment. Members enjoy social time, gentle exercise and a warm, inclusive atmosphere.
This activity is good for wellbeing because
- Regular social interaction helps reduce loneliness and supports positive mental wellbeing.
- Gentle chair-based exercise encourages mobility, strength and physical confidence.
- Structured activities and shared meals promote routine, purpose and emotional wellbeing.

What to expect
When you arrive at Coneygear Seniors, you’ll be warmly welcomed into a friendly and relaxed environment designed to help you feel comfortable from the start.
If it’s your first visit, you’ll be paired with one of the regular volunteer members who will introduce you to others and help you settle in, so you’ll always have someone to chat with straight away.
Each session offers plenty of opportunities to socialise and take part at your own pace. You can enjoy:
- Crafts and creative activities
- Board games, puzzles and crosswords
- Friendly conversation and companionship
There is also an optional weekly chair-based exercise session, suitable for a range of abilities.
During the session, you’ll be served tea, coffee and biscuits, followed by a two-course lunch, all included in the small attendance charge.
Sessions run from 10am to 1pm, and members are expected to stay for the full session to help create a relaxed, shared social experience.
More information
Coneygear Seniors meets on Wednesdays during term time and is open to adults aged 65 and over. The group operates as a members’ club rather than a drop-in session, and places must be booked in advance to allow accurate catering numbers. A small charge applies to attend, which includes refreshments and lunch, and carers are welcome to come along but are also required to pay the attendance fee.
The venue is fully accessible and includes a hearing aid loop, a disabled toilet and a Changing Places toilet. Dietary requirements can be accommodated when advised at the time of booking. Mobility scooter users are welcome; however, if a scooter is particularly large, a wheelchair is available on site to assist individuals once their scooter has been parked.
