Huntingdonshire Ramblers

Back to Activities

Walking with your local Ramblers Group is a great way to get a gentle work-out while exploring your local countryside.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • Walking in a group setting with an experienced leader offers a safe environment in which to enjoy the outdoors.
  • Ramblers walks have a social feel and give participants the chance to meet people – or to simply walk alone but as part of a group.
  • Walking with your local Ramblers Group gives you motivation to get moving regularly, with planned meet ups.

“I have been a member of Ramblers for over 20 years. I get a good feeling from being out and about, even if it’s just for a short walk.”

What to expect

Walks are generally weekly throughout the year. Simply turn up to one of the walks included on their programme as listed on the Hunts Ramblers website.

There are also hints and tips on their website, to prepare for, and enjoy, a walk and keep healthy.

More information

They welcome anyone on the walks, however they do assume that those joining have judged themselves capable of completing the length and type of walk advertised. If in doubt they should contact the walk leader for advice.  Details on the website.

Wearing the right footwear and clothing is essential, depending on how long or difficult the walk and the weather. Walkers will need to bring something to eat and drink.

The first three walks can be enjoyed free of charge.

Ramblers Association membership is required after the first three walks. Membership confers the right to walk with any other Ramblers groups across the country for free and discounts at certain stores. You can join here
