Promoting and encouraging the involvement of volunteers within the Huntingdonshire community in a variety of initiatives including four valued Community Car Schemes and a Community Shop in Huntingdon.
This activity is good for wellbeing because
- Volunteering can improve self esteem, confidence and wellbeing and gives satisfaction knowing you have made a positive difference to peoples lives.
- Becoming a volunteer driver for HVC has helped people gain confidence and make new friends.
- Volunteers gain invaluable work experience and develop new skills which can help build confidence and secure permanent employment.
“I have been volunteering since November 2019 and continue to enjoy the experience. The flexibility allows me to slot volunteer driving into working from home. I really love meeting and talking to the clients. They are all very friendly and comment that without us they would really struggle to attend vital appointments. I would definitely recommend volunteer driving to anyone who wants to feel that they are making a valuable contribution to the local community.”

What to expect
They are a small registered charity, locally funded, supporting local people through our valued services.
Their mission is to actively engage with Huntingdonshire communities by promoting and encouraging the involvement of volunteers in a variety of initiatives including four valued Community Car Schemes and the Community Shop in Huntingdon.
The Community Car Scheme is for anyone who needs to make an essential journey, for medical appointments, shopping and meeting friends where no suitable public transport exists and for individuals with mobility difficulties. This has helped relieve isolation and loneliness for people that live alone or in remote areas and has been a lifeline for those that cannot access public transport.
