On Stage Performing Arts

Back to Activities

Established in Cambridgeshire since 2002, this vibrant dance and theatre school for all ages is where dreams take centre stage and talents shine brighter than ever before! With groups that meet in Wyton, Needingworth, Godmanchester and Histon.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • Dance and theatre classes provide a dynamic way to stay physically active. Engaging in movement-based activities improves cardiovascular health, enhances flexibility, strengthens muscles, and promotes overall physical fitness. Through regular practice, participants develop coordination, balance and stamina, contributing to a healthier lifestyle for both children and adults.
  • Participating in dance and theatre cultivates emotional expression and resilience. Through creative exploration of characters, stories, and movements, individuals learn to channel and express their emotions constructively. This process fosters self-awareness, confidence, and emotional intelligence, empowering participants to navigate and cope with life’s challenges more effectively.
  • Dance and theatre classes offer a supportive community environment where children and adults can connect with like-minded individuals, fostering friendships and a sense of belonging. Collaborative activities such as group performances and rehearsals promote teamwork, communication, and empathy. These social interactions boost mood, reduce feelings of isolation, and provide opportunities for personal growth and interpersonal relationships, contributing to overall mental and social wellbeing.

‘My daughter has been part of the On Stage family for nearly 5 years. In this time she has grown massively in confidence and learnt valuable skills which have ignited her passion of performing! She has been in some amazing shows at On Stage and is always excited and ready to learn more for the next one! She absolutely loves Saturday classes and is buzzing going in and buzzing once she’s back home and practising all that she’s learnt! Massive thanks to On Stage and all the lovely teachers for everything you do and for providing such amazing opportunities! We are all excited and looking forward to the next shows!’

What to expect

On Stage Performing Arts provides students with a well-rounded training in the performing arts in a fun and friendly environment.

In St.Ives and Histon, theatre students take part in singing, acting and dancing all culminating in a yearly variety show and a biannual pantomime.

In Godmanchester and Needingworth, dance students attend a range of classes for all ages including ISTD ballet, tap, modern and jazz.

Teaching methods are designed to build confidence and there is always a member of the team available to advise students and answer questions. If a child is new, they will be introduced to a buddy so they don’t feel alone.
