Ouse Valley is a locally broadcast 24/7 community radio station providing music, news, community events and specialist programmes across Huntingdonshire.
This activity is good for wellbeing because
- Community radio brings people together through shared interests, local news, and conversations. Volunteers, presenters, and listeners can feel more connected to their local community, helping to reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness.
- Taking part in broadcasts gives people the opportunity to develop new skills, share their views, and have their voices heard. Learning broadcasting, interviewing, or technical skills can increase confidence and provide a sense of achievement.
- Listening to music, community stories, and positive local content can improve mood and reduce stress. Being involved with a community radio station also gives people a sense of purpose and belonging, which are important contributors to overall wellbeing.
