Rebuilding Belonging-St Neots

Back to Activities

St Neots Rebuilding Belonging brings newcomers and local residents together to make friends, share cultures, discover local resources and build a stronger sense of belonging. Everyone is welcome to take part and enrich community life.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • Builds social connections and support networks
  • Promotes cultural exchange and understanding
  • Develops skills and a sense of belonging

Participant A “I have never attended a group activity that is so welcoming, with such a great atmosphere and where everyone is so proactive. I feel very happy"

Participant B: "Coming here gives me the opportunity to interact with people from different cultural backgrounds. I used to feel nervous about speaking with local people, but here I can speak English, and they are very accepting, even when I don’t speak very well"

Participant C: "I feel that I have found a sense of belonging here. People are so welcoming, which makes me feel that this community is also my home—I am truly part of it now."

What to expect

The St Neots project began in March 2025 in partnership with a local Baptist church.

This work reflects a core belief that integration grows through ongoing connection rather than one-off events. By encouraging mutual listening, shared experiences, and local leadership, the initiative helps communities respond to their own needs.

The St Neots project shows how small, consistent gatherings can reduce isolation, bridge cultural divides, and foster a lasting sense of belonging within an increasingly diverse community.

Sessions are informal and welcoming, usually involving group walks, light activities, and shared meals where people can chat and connect. No registration is required—attendees can simply turn up.

We warmly welcome first-time participants. Organisers will personally introduce new members to the group, help them get to know other participants, and explain how the activities work. If preferred, new participants may arrange to meet with an organiser or an experienced volunteer before attending to learn more about the programme and ask any questions.

The group is open to everyone, with no prior experience needed. Sessions typically last 1–2 hours, but participants are free to join or leave at any time.
