Age UK CAP provides opportunities to socialise. This includes friendship and support in the form of regular contact from a fully trained volunteer, either by a visit to your home (Sharing Time) or a telephone call (Telephone Befriending). Both are free of charge.

They also provide Day Services (run by staff) and Friendship Clubs (delivered by volunteers). First sessions are free, so you can see if you like it.

They offer various types of other support as well.

Volunteering is another free activity to consider.
There are many benefits, including improving your own mental health, reducing loneliness, meeting new people, keeping active, engaging with community activities, sharing skills or acquiring new skills, making a difference, feeling valued, and gaining confidence. Opportunities with Age UK CAP include:

  • Sharing Time Visitor
  • Telephone Befriender
  • Day Service Support Volunteer
  • Friendship Club Volunteer (also club lead, treasurer, secretary)
  • Volunteer shopper
  • Welfare check contact caller

Contact them to find out more.

Most of Age UK CAP’s activities take place in Day Services and Friendship Clubs throughout Huntingdonshire. Tea or coffee is offered and a hot meal is usually provided. Games, quizzes, entertainment, speakers and sometimes outings can be a part of the day.

Costs apply for ongoing participation in the centres and clubs. Please contact them for information.
