How Centre 33 Helps Young Carers across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough
Centre 33 are here to listen, support, and help young carers most in need. Their specialist service provides assessments and tailored support to reduce the negative impact of caring on young people’s lives.
How can Centre 33 help me as a young person? They will listen to you, and offer someone to talk to, without judgement, to understand how you feel about caring. Their friendly team will meet with you and will work together to come up with a plan that supports you in your caring role – this is known as a Young Carers Needs Assessment. (They can meet at your home, school or you can come into one of their hubs, they are also happy to meet online if that feels better for you – you decide.)
They can offer one to one and group support, giving you someone to talk to and the opportunity to meet other young people in similar situations. Support you with transitions to secondary school or to other adulthood stages. They give you a voice through Centre 33’s Young Carers Voices. They offer fun activities to give you a break from your caring role. Please see more details and pictures on their website Young Carers - Centre 33
Go along to a drop-in or contact them or ask someone at home or school or an adult who knows you to check out their website and make a referral.

Young Carers Needs Assessment
A Young Carers Needs Assessment is a statutory assessment designed to understand your caring role, how it affects your well-being, and what support you may need. Together, they will create a plan that aims to reduce any negative impacts of caring and ensure you feel supported. They can meet with you at home, in school, at one of their hubs, or online—whatever works best for you.
Transitions Assessment (Ages 16-18)
If you are a young carer aged 16-18, they can offer a Transitions Assessment to help you plan for adulthood. This assessment looks at how your caring role may change as you move into further education, employment, or independent living. They explore what support is available to you, helping you make informed choices about your future while ensuring your well-being is prioritised.
What Support They Offer
If your assessment shows that your caring role is having a significant impact, they may offer:
- 1:1 Support – Up to 6-8 sessions with a trusted worker to talk through your experiences and explore strategies to improve your well-being.
- Group Support – A 6-12 week group where you can meet other young carers, share experiences, and build confidence.
To find out more about the support available for Young Carers visit the Centre 33 website.
All of the services offered by Centre 33 are free.
